STARKVILLE, Miss. - Sparked by four runners finishing in the top 25, the Louisiana Tech men's cross country team posted a runner-up finish in the Mississippi State Invitational Saturday morning in Starkville. Nate Davis led LA Tech with a 12th place finish, running the 8k race in 26:56.

Davis was one of four LA Tech runners to finish in the top 25, leading Tech to a second place finish in an eight-team field. Josh Slocum followed, placing 14th with a time of 27:03.

Jack Ramstead placed 18th for the Bulldogs, running 27:24, while Jermaine Morris rounded out the quartet that finished in the top 20 with a 27:43 mark that placed him 21.

Louisiana Tech finished the meet second behind host Mississippi State and edged Alabama-Huntsville for the runner-up title by three points.

LA Tech's men's team next returns to the cross country trails on Sept. 28 in Natchitoches, La. as the Bulldogs will compete in the Northwestern State Invitational.
