RUSTON--While the rest of the Louisiana Tech Track and Field team was traveling to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays, two Tech athletes in throwers Nadia Alexander and Larry Jones stopped in Philadelphia, Penn. to compete in the prestigious Penn Relays.

Alexander was the only competitor for Tech on Thursday as Jones will wait to compete in the discus throw on Friday and the javelin on Saturday.

Alexander, a senior from Kingston, Jamaica, went into the Penn Relays Thursday owning the school record in the shot put for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Thursday she topped her outdoor school record shot put mark of 54' 6.75" and pushed it to 54' 8.75" while winning the Penn Relays shot put championship. She was also a Penn Relays shot put champion in the high school division her senior year of high school.

While Alexander and Jones are competing at the Penn Relays the rest of the Track and Field team will be competing in the Drake Relays this weekend.
