LSU XC Festival: Meet Preview

Saturday Morning September 26th….. Temperature reaching into the 65-75 degree range through noon ….

Highland Road Park, will fill with runner’s once more from all portions of Louisiana as well as varied parts of the Southern United States.

It is no mystery that this park has fast become the official stomping grounds of many of the state schools. Tomorrow will be no different as 10 collegiate teams once again toe the line in the 2008 LSU XC Festival, putting the title of King of the State on the line. Defending Women’s champion Tulane looks to defend their title going into the race as heavy favorites. While in the men’s race, defending champion LSU looks to have a little more of a challenge ahead - as teams made of underclassmen have slowly come of age - gaining both experience and speed through the passing years. Watch for McNeese State and Louisiana Tech to make a run for the title.

College Teams to be in attendance: Lsu, Southern, Southern-No, Loyola, La tech-men, Ul-lafayette, Mcneese, Tulane, Se La, Jackson state, Houston

In the high school races you should look forward to seeing an exciting race as the 2008 National 2 Mile Champion Malia Cali breaks from the start, most probably breaks- even shatters the meet record, and extends her lead over the competetion with every tick of the clock. Also not to be overlooked - keep an eye on Kaitlyn Flatman, who is a fast rising national star herself recording an impressive 17:59 through 3 miles last season.
