Beelendorf Qualifies for NCAA Championships in 400m Hurdles
Senior Shanon Beelendorf qualified for the NCAA Regional in the 400m hurdles Saturday at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational.

BATON ROUGE, La. - Senior Shanon Beelendorf qualified for the NCAA Regional in the 400-meter hurdles, and senior Aubrey Phillips won the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best time to lead the Tulane University track and field team at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational held at Bernie Moore Stadium.
Beelendorf, a senior from Sterling, Ill., ran the 400m hurdles in a personal-best time of 1 minute, 00.12 seconds to place fourth overall in the race. Phillips, running in her hometown of Baton Rouge, won the 5,000m and set a personal record with a time of 17:15.54, which is good enough for second in school history.
Sophomore Nicolette Taku, who qualified for the NCAA Regional in the triple jump last weekend, placed fourth in the event Saturday with a jump of 12.35m (30-06.25). Taku also competed in the long jump, where she recorded a mark of 5.53m (18-01.75), while freshman Brree Carter jumped 5.02m (16-05.75) and sophomore Arielle Minor jumped 4.98m (16-04.25).
Sophomore Valencia Wilson ran the 400-meter dash in 55.18 second, placing 16th, while sophomore Olivia Kizzee ran the 400m in 56.61. Senior Taneekwa Ross ran the 100m in 12.27 seconds, and seniors Andrea Rosemond and Kyra Lobbins ran the 200m in 24.79 and 25.32, respectively. Junior Keriann Langley ran the 5,000m in 19:09.99.
Freshman Zandria Debowles finished 12th in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:03.99, and junior Vanessa Kienast placed 18th with a time of 1:05.63. Minor ran the 100m hurdles in 15.43 seconds, and threw the shot put 11.20m (36-09.00). Junior Katarina Busljeta threw the discus 42.48m (139-04).
The Tulane 4x100-meter relay team, composed of Ross, Momoh, Lobbins and Kizzee, placed fifth with a time of 46.34 seconds. The 4x400 relay team, composed of Beelendorf, Kizzee, Kienast and Wilson, finished seventh with a time of 3:45.80. Freshman Caitlin Hornbeck ran the 1,500m in 5:30.82.
