Pearson, Bor lead NSU runners at ULM meet

MONROE — Chris Pearson was the top male runner for Northwestern State for a third straight week while Naumy Bor set the pace for the Lady Demons in the 2007 ULM Warhawk Invitational cross country meet hosted by Louisiana-Monroe Saturday morning at Chenault Park Golf Club.

Pearson finished fourth in the men’s 8K race, clocking 27:36, a half-minute back of the winning time by Jace Benoit of Louisiana Tech.

Bor was seventh in the 5K women’s contest, with her 20:41 time 34 seconds behind the top collegiate mark by Amanda Bartlett of host ULM.

The Lady Warhawks notched a perfect score of 15, sweeping the top five places.

The Lady Demons picked up a 16th place 22:19 time from Shannon Foley, a 22:31 for 18th by Brittany Culotta, a 22nd place 23:13 from Courtney Hershberger and Jo Anne Penn’s 23:46 for 27th.

In the men’s competition, Northwestern got 17th by Dusty Dischler in 29:47, 21st from Cade Gentry (30:59), 22nd by Galen Mudd (31:11), 24th from Nathanial McReynolds (32:07) and 29th by Cameron Mehl (34:31).

In team-by-team dual scoring, the NSU men beat ULM 27-28, lost by the same margin to Louisiana Tech, and were outscored 20-35 by Grambling and 24-31 by Centenary. The Lady Demons beat Louisiana Tech 20-35, but fell 19-36 to Grambling, 23-32 to Centenary and 15-40 to ULM.

Northwestern will host its next competition on Oct. 1 at the Demon Hills Golf Course.
