Former ULM Standout Greer Captures Bronze at IAAF World Track & Field Championships

  MONROE, La. --- One of ULM's most decorated athletes added to his harder over the weekend as former Track & Field standout Breaux Greer took home the Bronze Medal at the International Associations of Athletics Federations World Championships in Osaka, Japan. Greer, a three-time all-American at ULM from 1997-99, posted the third best finish after throwing the javelin 86.21 meters. The Monroe, La. native helped the United States team to a first place finish, scoring 50 more team points than second-place Russia. 

Greer earned all-conference honors for ULM four times, claiming the Southland Conference Championship in the javelin in 1995, '97, '98 and '99. Greer did not participate during the 1996 season for ULM after qualifying for the first time for the United States Olympic Team. Greer also qualified for the U.S. Team in 2000. He is the current United States record holder with a throw of 299'6" and has claimed eight straigh USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships.

 Tero Pitkamaki claimed the 2007 IAAF World Track & Field Javelin Gold Medal after a throw of 90.33 meters.
