The 2014 cross-country season is officially underway!

Traditonally many Louisiana teams have traveled to Mobile, Alabama to compete with quicker runners found across the Southeast Region, including teams from Florida, Alabama, Missisippi, Tennesse, Arkansas, and Georgia.  The 2014 meet will see smaller numbers in Louisiana participation with the culprit being several comflicting local meets .  Although Louisiana's representation is smaller, hopefully, what is lacked in numbers will be made up in top finishes with a few of Louisiana's best scheduled to compete.  Look for LA#2 Hayden Kingfisher (Parkway), LA #13 Hannah Borque (St. Thomas More), and LA#3 Kaitllyn Tanner (Loyola college Prep) to make an impact in the race.

Below you will find how top runners are expected to stack up against teach other in our Mobile Virtual Meet!

A few things to note:

  • Most states race the 5K distance.  This virtual meet / rankings are based off this slightly longer distance.  With our athletes running shorter and not having many 5K to their resumes- they might be ranked on the low side.
  • Kaitlyn Tanner of Loyola College Prep is entered in the meet as an individual (therefore isn't showing in the rankings).  With 1911 5K (converted) she is expected to finish in the top 5.

West Feliciana XC Relay

Many teams will be foregoing the traditional 3 mile / 5K distance to start their seasons.   Instead they will be traveling to St. Francisville to compete in the West Feliciana XC Relays.  The relay format will be comprised of 4 person teams, each runner will run a 1.5 mile relay leg, hand off to a teammate until  thier distance adds to 6 miles in duration.

This year's course has changed its locale to Parish Park.  Although the mud pits and hay bale jumps have been eliminated, there will still be plenty of obstacles to cut runners strides -   called hills. For those not knowing what a hill is, a short travel to Parish Park will educated you.  Record setting attendance is expected on the men's side.

We have gone ahead and run a virtual meet for this meet as well. A few things to note:

  • Team scores based off of 4 person scoring instead of the traditonal 5 (see above - it makes sense).  Also times are based off returner 3 mile times (double the distance of this race).  It's safe to say our predictions might be a little innacurate, but hey we might be in the ball park, maybe.
