Aden, Davis and Williams win in first outdoor competition of the season

NATCHITOCHES, La. --- ULM sophomore Heather Davis qualified for the 2007 NCAA Regional Track & Field meet today, winning the women's high jump at the Northwestern State Relays. She hit the qualifying mark of 5' 8.75" in her first competition of the outdoor season.

"I felt really good about our team for the first outing of the season," said ULM head coach J.D. MALONE. "Heather, Walt and Maya did really well in their events, but we still have room to progress as a team."

Senior Walt Williams won his first event of the season, the men's discus with a throw of 166' 5.5". Senior Maya Aden also picked up his first win of the season in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:51.35.

Aden also ran the final leg of the men's 1,600 sprint medley relay - Malcom Bosworth, Morgan Fayard, Aaron Haynes, and Aden - that finished second with a time of 3:31.00. The men's 4x400 relay team of Mychal Word, Fayard, Bosworth, and Kendrick Shepherd also finished second with a time of 3:15.68.

Senior Nathan Hall picked up a second-place finish in the men's 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:04.31.

Sophomore Sadrina Shaw took second in the women's 100-meter hurdles, while the women's 4x200 relay and 4x400 relay teams each finished in second. The 4x200 team of Sherita Price, Shawnerie Miller, Bola Shoyebi, and Tiffany Holmes had a time of 1:40.72, while the 4x400 team of Ashley Young, Shoyebi, Price, and Whitney McKinnie had a time of 3:59.22.

ULM returns to action on Saturday, March 17, at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette.
