Orduno Sets @LATechTandF Record at LSU Alumni Gold

BATON ROUGE, La. - Louisiana Tech junior Aaron Orduno set a new school record in the hammer as LA Tech competed at the LSU Alumni Gold late Saturday at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium in Baton Rouge.
Orduno’s throw of 186-3 (56.78m) set a new school record as he finished eighth overall. The mark was one of 14 personal or season best marks recorded by Tech athletes at the meet.
Kim Francis was one of those athletes with a season-best mark as her time of 13.02 in the 100m hurdles ranks second in school history as she placed second overall in the race. The Youngsville native also led off a great performance in the 4x100m relay as the Lady Techsters ran 44.88 to finish third, edging Tennessee. She was joined by Aminah Blount, Brittany Walker and Charla Craddock on the relay team.
After anchoring the 4x100m relay, Craddock anchored a 4x400m relay squad that finished second only to No. 1 Texas A&M with a time of 3:39.09. The quartet of Craddock,Taneka Henderson, Blount and Aldresha Bailey topped Arizona and Michigan in the race as well as LA Tech’s “B” relay team. That second squad of Cassie Divin, Mia Adams,Diamond Every and LaQuanda James followed the “A” squad as they finished third with a time of 3:43.27.
Craddock also finished 12th in the 200m A section with a time of 24.20 while James ran a personal best time of 24.28 to finish third in the 200m B section, followed by Blount’s personal best time of 24.38 to place fifth.
The men excelled in the 200m as well as Trey Hadnot ran a season-best time of 20.62 to finish sixth as his time ranks ninth in school history. He also ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay along with Devin Henderson, Jermey Hicks and Dennis Richardson that finished fourth with a time of 39.78, topping South Florida and Tulane.
The men’s 4x400m relay – anchored by Hadnot – ran a time of 3:13.87 as he was joined by Jaquvis Hart,Christopher Sampract and Darius Statham. Henderson was also impressive in the triple jump as he finished sixth with a season-best jump of 47-2.5 (14.39m). Meanwhile in the long jump, Jarvis Gotch’s mark of 25-8.25 (7.83m) ranks eighth in school history as he placed third overall.
Tech dominance in the jumps extended over on the women’s side as Chloe Lautric notched a height of 5-9.25 (1.76m) to win the high jump as her mark ranks third in school history. With the 12th-best height in school history,Pamela Lee jumped 5-7.25 (1.71m) as she finished eighth.
Louisiana Tech returns to action next weekend with a return to the Lone Star State in the final meet in the 2014 regular season as LA Tech competes at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State in San Marcos, Texas.
