Victor, Harmon Pace Ragin' Cajuns At Samford Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala . – Justin Victor set a school-record and earned his fourth first-place finish this season in the men's weight throw while Lindsey Harmon claimed first-place honors in the women's high jump for the second time to pace the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns indoor track and field team at the Samford Multi and Invitational that concluded late Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

Victor, who set the school record last month at Texas A&M (64-5.25) before eclipsing it a week later at Arkansas State (67-4.75), posted a mark of 67 feet, 6.75 inches to outdistance second-place finisher Darian Brown of Texas State by nearly four feet.

Harmon, who captured the high jump crown at Texas A&M (5-6) on Jan. 17, recorded a mark of 5-7.25 – the best by a Sun Belt athlete this season – in claiming her second title of the season.

Competing in same venue where it will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25, the Ragin' Cajuns recorded several key performances against a crowded field that featured teams from the ACC, Atlantic Sun, Big South, Conference USA, Mid-Eastern Athletic, Ohio Valley, Southland and Southwestern Athletic Conference.

In the women's pole vault, Meredith Driskell eclipsed her school-record (12-4.75) set last month after finishing fifth overall with a mark of 12 feet, 7 inches. Tarvia Conway was second in the triple jump (40-05.50) with teammate Ta'Shania Bean finishing eighth (39-05.00).

Jana Jones earned a pair of top-15 finishes for the Ragin' Cajuns, placing sixth overall in the shot put (44-00.50) while finishing 11th in the weight throw (53-7.00). In the women's long jump, Tia Mitchell finished 10th overall (18-00.50) and Stacy Igagbe placed 13th (17-11.75).

In running events, Danielle Castaldi earned a fifth-place finish in the women's 800-meter dash, clocking a season-best time of 2:13.38. Sophomore Anna Katherine Devitt finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run (18:11.26) while Kaitlyn Moreau finished 13th overall (3,324 points) in the women's pentathlon with Alex Harrell 16th (3,155).

Freshman Dionte Heath finished fourth overall in high jump (6-6.75) while Devin Davis was 11th (6-4.75) and 10th overall in long jump (23-4.50).

In the men's pole vault, the Ragin' Cajuns earned a pair of top-10 performances as Nicolas Laurent finished eighth (15-3) and Josh McDaniels 10th (14-9). In the shot put, Kenneth Nassar earned a fourth-place finish (50-10.75) with teammate Spencer Nezat finishing in 11th (46-4.25).

Micah Thomas claimed 11th overall for the Ragin' Cajuns in the long jump (23-2.00) and Landon Carroll placed 12th in the weight throw (50-6.25).

Freshman Logan Pearce paced the Cajuns in running events, finished fifth overall in the 5,000-meter run (15:20.32). Matt Rice finished 15th in men's 800-meter dash with a season-best time (1:55.18) while Morgan Cormier placed sixth overall in the 60-meter hurdles "B" (8.42).
