With the hopes of tropical storm Karen defecting from it's current path, and not causing another weekend of meet cancellations, the 2013 St. Joseph Academy Invitational is still set to be run Saturday morning. With the hopeful running of the meet, it looks not only to be a sludge fest, but a literal fist fight, testing many of the top "ranked teams" in the state.
On the boy's side we will see just about all the state's best in St. Paul's (LA#1), Catholic High (LA#2), John Curtis (LA#3), Brother Martin (LA#4), Jesuit (LA#5), Episcopal (LA#6), Mandeville (LA#8), and Ascension Catholic (LA#9).
The race for the girl's team title will be no slouch in itself with Mandeville (LA#2), St. Joseph (LA#3), Dominican (LA#6), St. Thomas More (LA#7), and McGehee (LA#8) set to be present at Highland Park Saturday morning.
In the boy's individual race look out for the lead pack and the coveted 10 spots to have in it's number St. Paul's Zach Albright (LA#1) Eric Coston (LA#4), as well Ascension Catholic's Zach Capello (LA#6), John Curtis' Devin Ketih (LA#5), Catholic's Jeffrey Catholic (LA#10), Brother Martin's Chase Edwards (LA#13) and U-High's Hank Patrick (LA#12).
For girls you might recognize a few of the names is the race with SJA;s Annie Hill (LA#3), St. Michael's Haley Gregoire (LA#4), Newman's Haley Johnson (LA#5), Mandeville's Olivia Murphy (LA#6), Patrick Taylor's Celia Zaeringer (LA#7), Vandebilt Catholics's Alexa Breaux (LA#8), Holden's Clarissa Smith (LA#9), Dominican's Mia Meydrich (LA#12), St. Thomas More's Hannah Borrque (LA#13), and finally John Curtis' Hannah Ivory (LA#14) undoutebdly pushing for top honors in mere hours.
Although potential weather may slow times tomorrow mornng, competition will be top notch, and looks to put our rankings to the test.
