ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis’ Neal Fitzpatrick and Margo Richardson earned Atlantic 10 Conference cross country weekly honors today, as announced by the league office. Fitzpatrick was named the A-10 men’s Rookie of the Week, while Richardson collected A-10 women’s co-Performer of the Week accolades.
Fitzpatrick finished third among the Billikens at the National Catholic Invitational in South Bend, Ind., recording a five-mile time of 26:23.2. It was the third-best time posted by a freshman in the meet. Fitzpatrick helped the Billikens to a third-place finish, their best finish ever at the National Catholic Invitational.
Richardson led SLU with an 11th-place finish at the National Catholic Invitational, crossing the 5K finish line in a time of 17:47.5. It is Richardson’s fifth career weekly A-10 award, added to three Rookie of the Week honors in 2010 and a co-Performer of the Week nod last year.
SLU cross country is back in action Saturday, Oct. 5, when it heads to Louisville for the Greater Louisville Classic.
