Green Wave Women\'s Cross Country Runs to Victory at Southern Miss Invitational

Hattiesburg, Miss. - The Tulane Green Wave women\'s cross country team captured its first meet of the 2006 fall campaign by placing five runners among the top-10 finishers, including the top three sports, for 21 points in the 5K race on Friday at Tatum Park.


Tulane\'s trio of Keriann Langley, Aubrey Phillips and Rachel Bryan each finished in the 1-2-3 spots, respectively, while Savannah Moon and Whitney Hampton crossed the finish line seventh and eighth overall, respectively, to round out the Green Wave\'s five top-10 showings.


Langley paced all runners with a top time of 18:13.19, followed by Phillips with a time of 18:58.90. Bryan covered the course with a time of 19:37.32. Moon crossed the line in 20:31.64, while Hampton clocked her top-10 time of 20:33.16.


Jill Shriver and Cecelia Clark each turned in a pair of top-20 performances. Shriver finished in 17th place with a time of 21:46.67, while Clark was 19th overall in a time of 22:31.25.


Alysa Korilubana narrowly missed the top-20 with her 21st-place showing in a time of 22:58.83, and Arianne Larimer followed Korilubana with a time of 22:58.83 for 26th place.


Conference USA rival Southern Miss finished second with 47 points, followed by Jackson State with 74 points, Millsaps College was fourth with 102 points, Belhaven College was fifth with 117 points and Alcorn State was sixth with 141 points.
