FRISCO, Texas – After turning in a pair of first-place finishes and helping Southeastern Louisiana to a pair of cross country titles in its first two meets, senior Mandy Wallace was named Wednesday the Aeropostale Southland Conference Female Athlete of the Week in a release by the league office.
Wallace, from Cardinal, Ontario, returned to the course after redshirting in 2005 and claimed the individual title at the Tulane Green Wave Invitational last Friday. Wallace covered the 5K course in City Park in 19:00.19, finishing 12 seconds of second-place finisher Keriann Langley before teaming with Kim Gastinell in taking first-place honors at the McNeese State Invitational on Tuesday.
The award for Wallace is the fourth in her career after she collected three during the 2003 cross country season.
The duo of Josh Lopez and Shadrock Sognok of SLC newcomer Texas A&M-Corpus Christi earned honors on the men's side after their performance at the Lumberjack Invitational. Southeastern's Kurt Scoby and Sean Allerton, who claimed first-place honors on Tuesday at the McNeese State Invitational, were named to the honor roll.
