STARKVILLE, Miss. - Louisiana Tech claimed four event wins and 11 top-3 finishes including Trey Hadnot's 100m dash victory at the SEC-Big Ten Challenge at the Maddox Track in Starkville, Miss. Saturday.
The meet was scored as the Southeastern Conference vs. All Challengers as Louisiana Tech and Missouri State paired up with the Big Ten Conference. The SEC won the men's challenge 287-264 with Tech responsible for 38 of the 264 points while the SEC won the women's challenge 360-217 with Tech responsible for 68 of the 217 challenger points.
The top six finishers were awarded points for their place in the 10-8-6-4-2-1 international format meaning the event winner received 10 points, the second place finisher received eight points, etc.
Three-time All-American Trey Hadnot led the men, winning the 100m dash with a time of 10.63. The men also scored in the relay as the 4x100m relay finished second with a time of 40.87.
The Bulldogs were strong in the jump as well with Devin Henderson winning the long jump with a mark of 23-10 (7.26m) while Anthony Bushay finished eighth, jumping 21-8.25 (6.61m). Bushay also finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 44-3.5 (13.50m).
On the women's side, Kim Francis won the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.54 while Marlesia Carey ran 14.11 to finish fifth and Bianca Jackson placed sixth with a time of 14.14. Francis also finished sixth in the 200m, running 25.02.
The women's relays were unsurprisingly strong with the 4x100m relay winning with a time of 45.84 while the 4x400m relay ran 3:42.51 to finish second.
Pamela Lee, a transfer from Ole Miss, felt comfortable in familiar surroundings and it showed as she tied for second with a high jump mark of 5-5 (1.65m).
Charla Craddock finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 11.98 while Brittany Walker ran 12.19 to finish fourth.
Marcella LeBlanc placed third in the shot put with a throw of 44-1.25 (13.44m) and Sabrittany Angelle placed fourth, throwing 42-11.5.
In the split squad weekend, the distance runners competed at the Victor Lopez Invitational with Mary Kate Hays running 20:24.64 in the 5,000m to finish 19th while Taylor Ashton ran 15:59.97 in the 5k to place 26th.
