1st Annual BCHS XC Invitational

Saturday, October 24th

Course Address/Directions

333 F. Edward Hebert Blvd., Belle Chasse, LA 70037. The meet site and course is located in the back of the facility near the festival pavilion.

Meet Schedule

6:30 AM Packet Pickup

7:30 AM Girls Varsity 3 miles (Max. 7 runners/school; LHSAA Registered/Eligible Athletes Only)

8:30 AM Boys Varsity 3 miles (Max. 7 runners/school; LHSAA Registered/Eligible Athletes Only)

9:30 AM Girls and Boys JV Open 1.5 mile OR 3 mile option (No registration, coaches responsible for

timing, run in waves)

THERE WILL BE NO AWARDS CEREMONY AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE MEET DUE TO LHSAA COVID-19 GUIDELINES. COACHES WILL RECEIVE AWARDS TO DISTRIBUTE TO THEIR RUNNERS. TEAMS ARE ASKED TO DEPART FROM THE MEET 30 MINUTES AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THEIR LAST RACE.

Registration

Team availability is limited. Coaches interested in attending the meet must email Micah Simoneaux at msimoneaux@ppsb.org by Friday, October 16th to inquire about availability. Entries will be due by Wednesday, October 21st. Entry submission instructions will be emailed individually to coaches of attending programs.

Entry Fee

$35 per school. School checks only, payable to: BELLE CHASSE HIGH SCHOOL. Please bring checks on race day in case of cancellation. DO NOT MAIL CHECKS.

Scoring

Varsity races will be hand-timed and scored by our timers and scoring team. The JV race will not be scored, and coaches are responsible for recording their runners times.

Hydration

Teams must supply their own water, drinks, etc. Water will not be provided.

CONCESSIONS

Concessions will not be available.

RESTROOMS

The restroom facility is located inside the festival pavilion. Occupancy will be monitored. Please communicate to your runners there may be waiting times to use the facilities so plan accordingly in terms of warm ups and start times.

COVID-19 GUIDELINES FOR TEAMS AND SPECTATORS

COVID-19 Screening Form

This form must be completed by all participating runners and their coach. Forms must be turned in at the packet pick-up table to receive your packet on race day.

COVID-19 Meet Protocol

All individuals in attendance are expected to adhere to the LHSAA COVID-19 Guidelines. Please communicate this information to your runners, program personnel, and attending spectators. Highlights from the document include:

Athletes

o Athletes are asked to where masks upon arrival to the facility. Masks may only be removed by the runner if warming up, competing, or social distancing at a minimum of 6 ft. within a 15-minute time frame.

o Athletes may walk the course up to 5 minutes before the first race of the meet. They may warm up on the road around the facility, but not on the course once the races have begun.

o Report to your teams assigned box at the start line 5 minutes prior to race time. Competing teams must be escorted to the start line.

o The race starter will instruct athletes to remove masks when appropriate.

o Athletes are to return to their team area upon completion of their race. Please instruct your athletes to not shake hands, high five, etc.

Spectators

o A maximum of 2 spectators per competing athlete may attend the meet.

o Spectators must wear their mask at all times.

o Please stay away from team areas.

o Practice social distancing with a minimum of 6 ft. separation along the course.

o Spectators are not permitted near the start or finish line areas.

Coaches

o Coaches must submit the COVID-19 Monitoring Form sent in response to your emailed entry submission at packet pick-up.

Schools will be required to inform the meet director if anyone associated with their cross country program (runners, managers, coaches, spectators, etc.) falls ill within 48 hours of attending the meet. The meet director will notify their school administration of every participating school as well as all meet officials of the situation within 48 hours of receiving this information.
