Runners from New Orleans journeyed to the West Bank for the 24th Annual Run on the Bayou at Bayou Segnette Park. Under cool and windy conditions, runners battled for top position as Matt Manning and Andy Barton changed leads on several occasions until Andy was able to pull away on the last straight in a kicker which would leave him two seconds ahead of Matt in a time of 32:28 to 32:30. In the women’s race, Megan Gohres would lead for a majority of the way before Charlotte Everhardt would make a late charge and reel her in to win in 38:25 to Megan’s 38:37.

CLINTON, Miss. – Three freshmen made their Loyola debut for the men’s cross country team tonight at the Choctaw Season Opener, and they certainly gave the spark Head Coach Andy Canegitta was hoping for. Freshmen, Mike Corso, Dylan DiMartino, and Henry Gerbracht all finished in the top-25 in the 5K race.

Like the men, the Loyola women’s cross country team debuted several new faces to the fold last night in the Choctaw Season Opener, but it was the veteran leaders who helped deliver the team to a second place finish. Sophomore Vanessa Righeimer and juniors Hannah Dougherty and Jenna Knoblach, all finished within ten seconds from each other, as all three placed in the top 15.

 The 3.1 mile course will cover beautiful Louisiana habitat. This course is mostly on trails and grass. Begins and ends inside Fontainebleau State Park. 

Proceeds to benefit Louisiana Lions Camp for Handicapped Children

Lions Camp is a non-profit camp in Leesville La. They offer one week sessions for children with various disabilities and handicaps from across the entire state. The campers are sent to camp at no expense to their families. Please come out and join us for a great cause.
