Kovey Simmons will compete Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

The senior from DeRidder, La., set the school record in the outdoor pole vault (17 feet 5.50 inches) May 26 at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla. His mark is the second-best in the Southland Conference behind Texas State's Logan Cunningham (17-08.50), who will also be competing.
Simmons returns to the NCAA championship meet for the second consecutive year, where he earned All-America honors for his efforts.
The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship runs June 6-9 on the Drake campus.
