SAN MARCOS, Texas – After one day of competition at the Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Southeastern Louisiana is in the middle of the pack.
With three scored events on each side, the Lady Lions are tied for sixth place with Nicholls State (six points) and the men are in eight place with four points.
Henry Rop led the way for the Lions in the men's 10,000-meter run. Rop finished 11th (32:28.36).
Paul Arthur placed 19th (34:25.76) while
Joseph LeGrange (34:52.14) and Jessie McDavitt (34:50.06) finished 20th and 22nd, respectively.
Jeff Milliron placed ninth in the men's hammer throw (160 feet) and
Derek Hampton turned in the Lions' highest finish of the day. He placed fifth in the men's javelin (195-07).
The Lady Lions had a pair of top-10 finishes in the hammer throw.
Renada Living (173-04) and
Shalicia Rochon (157-10) placed fourth and ninth, respectively.
Brianna Golden (124-03) finished 16th, one spot in front of
Amber Darville (115-03).
Sophomore
Jenna Baker (139-11) placed fourth in the women's javelin throw and
Jordan Hartney (123-06) finished eighth.
Dianna Marcantel competed in the women's heptathlon. In the first-four events she finished 11th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.57 seconds), 10th in the high jump (5-1.25), 13th in the shot put (29-09.25) and 14th in the 200-meter dash (28.12).
The conference outdoor championships continue Saturday on the campus of Texas State.
