HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southeastern Louisiana finished second (women) and fifth (men) Saturday at the Golden Eagle Classic on the campus of Southern Miss.
The Lady Lions accumulated 113.25 points with three first-place finishes, four second-place finishes and one third-place finish.
Alicia Noel set a season-best in winning the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.93) while
Jessica Fekete claimed first in the hammer throw with a distance of 172 feet, 11 inches.
Brittany Pfantz took the title pole vault (12-06.00) after tying with her sister
Ashley Pfantz.
Other second-place finishes for the Lady Lions include
Renada Living in the hammer throw (170-08),
Lindsey Toups in the 800-meter run (2:21.55) and
Jenna Baker in the javelin (122-01).
Jordan Hartney finished third in the women's javelin (112-07).
On the men's side, the Lions accumulated 72 points.
Abram Taylor set a season-best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.41 seconds.
Other second-place finishes for the Lions include
Derek Hampton in the javelin (191-06),
Vance Law in the pole vault (15-07.00) and
Phillippe Moore in the long jump (24-01.75).
Moore also set a season-best in the triple jump (48-06.00) despite finishing third. Jeff Milliron also finished third in the discus (166-04).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor,
Brendon Mitchell,
Billy Minnifield and
T.J. Herbert finished third (3:17.56).
