Dark Earns Third Shot Put Title of Season at Mississippi Open

 

OXFORD, Miss. - Senior Derek Dark won the men's shot put to lead the ULM track & field team at the Mississippi Open Saturday at the Ole Miss Track Complex.

Dark had a throw of 55-11.75 (17.06 meters) to win the shot put for the third time this season. He ranks No. 3 in the Sun Belt in the shot put this season. In addition, fellow senior Preston Dark earned a fifth-place finish in the discus throw (154-07/47.13 meters).

On the women's side, freshman Teona Glave turned in a solid performance in the 800-meter run with a runner-up finish. Glave clocked a time of 2:15.26 to finish just behind Louisa Lingley of Memphis, who won in a time of 2:11.75.

Senior Marcie Richard had a best throw of 135-11 (41.44 meters) to finish fifth in the women's javelin throw.

ULM returns to action next Saturday in Baton Rouge, La., for the ULM Alumni Gold.
