Track & Field Earns Six Titles at Southern Miss Invitational

 

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The ULM track & field squad opened the outdoor season with six titles at the Southern Miss Invitational on Saturday. The men picked up four victories on the day, including senior Luther Ambrose in the 200-meter dash, while the women earned two wins on the day.

Ambrose got his final outdoor season off to a good start as he clocked a time of 21.49 to earn the victory in the 200.

The Warhawks had the top two finishers in the men's 400-meter hurdles as senior Jestin Miller clocked a time of 54.22 to win the event and freshman Jamel Sams came in second with a time of 54.64.

In addition, senior Derek Dark won the men's shot put (16.41 meters) and the men's 4x400-meter relay team took home the title with a time of 3:15.37.

On the women's side, senior Marcie Richard won the javelin with a best throw of 41.63 meters, and the 4x400-meter relay team won in a time of 3:55.62.

ULM returns to action next weekend at the Louisiana Classics (Feb. 16-17) in Lafayette, La.
