Southeastern to Compete at McNeese Indoor Meet

Meet marks first full squad competition this season

HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana track and field program will participate in its first full indoor meet of the season Friday at the Jeff Davis Bank McNeese Indoor II in Lake Charles, La.

“Many of our conference foes will be there and it's going to be exciting to see us compete,” head coach Sean Brady said. “We've got great expectations. We're not so much interested in performance, but in how we compete.”

A select number of athletes competed at the ASTATE Invitational last Thursday and Friday, but this meet Southeastern will bring the entire squad. It marks the first time this season the entire squad will participate.

This season Southeastern features 37 newcomers and most have yet to compete in the season first few meets.

“We hope that they're more anxious than nervous,” Brady said. “We're going to find out about some of these young athletes. The good ones are going to step in and maybe not perform as well as they could, but they're going to step in and fight.”

With the entire squad traveling Southeastern should have multiple entries competing in most, if not all, of the 36 events.

“Our team is built surrounding a full squad,” Brady said. “We don't specialize in any event area. Our recruiting philosophy is that we take the best athletes available and coach them up. We should have athletes in just about every event.”
