HAMMOND – Shannon Grover led the way for Southeastern Louisiana in day two competition Saturday at the ASTATE Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark.

Grover won both the preliminaries (6.42 seconds) and finals (6.37 sec.) of the men's 55-meter dash and placed second in the 200-meter dash (21.76 sec.). Shaquell Windley also turned in a second-place finish in the men's 400-meter dash (49.80 sec.).

Lady Lion Alicia Noel finished sixth in the women's 400-meter dash (59.34 sec.).

Sammuel Abboud wrapped up the men's heptathlon with a fourth-place finish in the 1000-meter run (2:58:34), and a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 55-meter hurdles (8.58 sec.) and pole vault (2.11 meters, 6 feet-11.0 inches). Abboud placed fifth overall in the heptathlon with 3,775 points.

On the first day of the meet, Lady Lions Diana Marcantel and Hailey Callahan placed eighth (2,866 pts.) and 11th (2,608 pts.), respectively, in the women's pentathlon.

Marcantel recorded one of Southeastern's best efforts of day one placing second in the pentathlon's high jump competition (1.59 m, 5-02.50). She finished eight in the 55-meter run (8.97 sec.), 12th in the shot put (8.10 m, 26-07.00), ninth in the long jump (4.86 m, 15-11.50) and 14th in the 800-meter run (2:54.87).

Callahan also recorded a second-place finish with a time of 2:33.24 in the 800-meter run. She finished 12th in the 55-meter run (9.52 sec.), 13th in the high jump (1.35 m, 4-05.00), 10th in the shot put (8.45 m, 27-08.75) and 13th in the long jump (4.33 m, 14-02.50).

In the individual men's heptathlon events on day one Abboud finished fifth in the 55-meter dash (6.93 seconds), and sixth in the long jump (5.89 meters, 19 feet-04.00 inches), shot put (8.66 m, 28-05.00) and high jump (1.67 m, 5-05.75).

Southeastern returns to action Friday at the Jeff Davis Bank McNeese Indoor II in Lake Charles, La.
