HAMMOND – Select members of the Southeastern Louisiana track and field program are competing Friday at the ASTATE Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark.
Six athletes, including three Lady Lions, will participate in multiple events at the ASU Convocation Center.
“We're going up to this meet at Arkansas State primarily to take our multi-event athletes,” head coach
Sean Brady said. “We have a heptathlon and a pentathlon. It's the only meet we have an opportunity to run these.”
Competing for Southeastern are Lady Lions
Hailey Callahan,
Diana Marcantel and
Alicia Noel.
Sammuel Abboud,
Shannon Grover and
Shaquell Windley are competing for the men.
“Shannon is 14th in the country in the 200 meters and they typically take the top 20,” Brady said. “We just want to give him a chance to better his time. The athletes that go to the nationals will be decided by hundredths of a second.”
Grover set the Southeastern indoor record in the 200 meter dash in December when the Lions competed at the ASU Kickoff Klassic.
“The track was good to us the last time we were up there,” Brady said. “We want to see if we can get some more qualifying marks.”
