BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Southeastern Louisiana's track and field program provided a mixed showing at the UAB Blazer Invitational Thursday in Birmingham, Ala.

“We were real good in spots,” head coach Sean Brady said. “The upperclassmen stepped up, but a not so much for a few of the freshmen.”

Shannon Grover finished second in the men's 60 meter dash (6.77q) and just missed breaking the school record by .04 seconds.

Phillippe Moore placed fourth in the men's long jump (7.14 m) and his teammate Brandon Daniels placed 12th (6.50 m).

Abram Taylor finished 29th in the 60 meter hurdle preliminaries (8.79).

For the Lady Lions, Michelle Ogashi placed fourth with a strong performance in the long jump (5.55 m) and here teammate Nia Stewart placed 19th (5.15 m).

“Ogashi, who is more a triple jump athlete, had a great series in the long jump to make the finals,” Brady said.

Teirral Thompson finished 17th in the preliminaries of the women's 60 meter hurdle (9.24) and Darichelle Sampson finished 50th in the women's 60 meter dash (8.18).

“We're definitely young and it was a learning experience,” assistant coach Brent Alfred said. “But we're looking forward to Friday and events that we compete well in.”

Southeastern has athletes competing Friday at the UAB Blazer Invitational in the 400 meters (men's and women's), 200 meters (men's and women's), triple jump (men's and women's) and the men's high jump.

A split squad will also be competing at the McNeese Indoor I in Lake Charles, La.
