NEW ORLEANS, La. – Coming off of their second meet win in the last month, the Nicholls State women's cross country team has returned to the USTFCCCA rankings this week, sitting 12th in the South Central Region.

Unranked after last week, the Colonel women placed four runners in the top ten at the Cowboy Stampede last weekend to win the event, and this week leapfrogged McNeese, Houston and Texas State, as they and UT-Arlington are the only two schools to make the leap into the polls this week.

“The team has been running hard all season and this just proves that their hard work is starting to pay off,” head coach Scott Williamson said. “We still have some work to do, but I'm confident that we will continue to get better as a group heading into the conference meet later this year.”

The Colonels men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action next week, participating in the Crimson Classic hosted by the University of Alabama.
