Jeruto, LeGrange Lead Southeastern at LSU Invitational

BATON ROUGE – Senior Naomi Jeruto and sophomore Joseph LeGrange were the top individual performer for the Southeastern Louisiana cross country teams at the LSU Invitational Saturday morning at Highland Road Park. 

The Lady Lions had a strong meet, finishing third in the 10-team field. The men's team placed seventh out of 14 teams. The Miami (Ohio) men and the LSU women took the team titles. 

Jeruto led the way for Southeastern, finishing 10th and covering the 6K course in 23:39.1. Right behind was Jeruto's teammate junior Bethany Burst, who posted a time of 23:45.6 to finish 12th. Rounding out the Lady Lion performers were senior Brittany Blackmon (21st, 24:33.6), juniorLindsey Toups (23rd, 24:40.6), sophomore Emily McAfee (25th, 24:42.0) and sophomore Heather Fitzhenry (32nd, 25:30.7).

For the second straight meet, LeGrange was the top Lion finisher, earning a 27th-place finish with a time of 29:10.4 over the 8K course. Also competing for the Lions were sophomore Matt Mouton (33rd, 29:32.9), sophomore Paul Arthur (45th, 30:36.4), sophomore Shaquille Brown (52nd, 31:04.6), junior Jessie McDavitt (61st, 32:14.8), senior MJ Ahmad (78th, 34:29.0) and freshman Corey O'Dell (81st, 35:40.3). 

Southeastern will be back in action next Saturday, competing in the McNeese Cowboy Stampede in Lake Charles.
