Louisiana Tech Men Sweep at Mook 4, Women go 2-1

 

RUSTON, La. - Louisiana Tech's men's cross country team swept in a triple-dual scored meet Saturday morning as Tech hosted the annual Mook 4 Meet at Lincoln Parish Park.Josh Slocum led the way for the men with a 4mile time of 21:26 while Mary Kate Hays paced the women with a 4,400m time of 18:50.

The Bulldogs posted wins over Northwestern State (15-40), Grambling State (20-35), LeTourneau (15-40) and Louisiana College (15-40). The Lady Techsters topped Louisiana College (19-36) and LeTourneau (20-35) but fell to Centenary (31-24). Cross country uses accumulating scores based upon finish with the lowest score winning.

Slocum's 21:26 time finished second overall and led a 2-3-4-5-6 finish for Louisiana Tech. Stephen Cortez placed third with a time of 21:31, Kyle Davis was fourth with a time of 21:39, Alwayne Green ran 21:42 to place fifth and Brent Kitto finished sixth with a time of 21:46.

Grambling's Darwin Price won the men's race overall with a time of 20:41.

On the women's side, Hays finished fourth overall with a time of 18:50 while Chelsea Dressel placed 11th with a time of 20:19. Northwestern State's Lawana Perkins won the overall race with a time of 18:01.
