Southeastern to Compete in Auburn Invitational

Lions, Lady Lions look to continue improving in second meet of fall

Naomi Jeruto and Southeastern will be back in action on Friday
HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action on Friday when it heads to Auburn, Ala. to compete in the Auburn Invitational at Conway Acres Farm.

The women's race is set for 5:15 p.m. with the men's race set to follow at 5:45 p.m. Southeastern will be among a field that includes Auburn, Florida State, Kennesaw State, Georgia State, Southern Miss, Samford, Troy, UAB and Alabama State.

Both the Lions and Lady Lions will be look to build on last Friday's performance. Southeastern had several solid performances at the season-opening McNeese State Distance Relay.

On the men's side, Southeastern's Joseph LeGrange and Paul Arthur finished fifth and covered the six-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 21 seconds to pace the Lion. Jessie McDavitt and Matt Mouton combined to finish 12th in the men's event (19:02) while Shaquille Brown ran individually.

Naomi Jeruto and Brittany Blackmon paced the Lady Lions, finishing 10th overall on the 6K course in 22:16. Emily McAfee and Lindsey Toups finished 14th overall (22:45) while C'arra Watts competed individually in her collegiate debut.

Following Friday's meet, Southeastern will take a break before competing at the LSU Invitational on Sat., Sept. 24 in Baton Rouge.
