KAMLOOPS, British Columbia, Canada -
Nicholls State University javelin thrower Jaimee Springer continued a banner offseason campaign by taking second place in the javelin to help lead Team Alberta to a championship finish at the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games.

The Western Canada Summer Games pit Canada's western-most provinces and territories against each other in Olympic style competition.  Springer launched a throw of 42.57 m (139 ft. 8.0 in.) to take runner-up honors and earn 18 points for Team Alberta's cause.  Team Alberta racked up 210 points to cruise to victory in the track and field events.  The Albertans bettered British Columbia's runner up total of 170.50 by 39.5 points.

Springer qualified for the Western Canada Summer Games by winning the Calgary Track and Field javelin championships in June to begin a banner summer season.  The Llyodminster, Alberta native competed in both the junior and senior Canadian National Track and Field Championships and advanced to the 2011 Junior Pan American Games where she represented Team Canada with a fifth-place performance in July.
