Nicholls Lands Fifty-Eight Student Athletes on Southland Conference Commissioner's Spring Semester Honor Roll

2011 Southland Conference Spring Semester Commisioner's Honor Roll

FRISCO, Texas -
Fifty-eight Nicholls State University student athletes were honored on Wednesday as the Southland Conference released its 2011 Spring Semester Commissioner's Honor Roll.

In order to be awarded spring semester honors, student-athletes must be eligible for competition and record a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  This spring 58 Nicholls student athletes from the men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, men's tennis, women's tennis, women's indoor track, women's outdoor track, baseball and softball qualified with six Colonel student athletes recording perfect 4.0 semester GPAs.

The Nicholls women's tennis team led the way with three student athletes: Melissa Harrison, Florina Nosca and Natalia Zamora all turning in perfect 4.0 semesters.  The Nicholls softball program boasted a pair of straight-A performances from Carlie Winklemann and Tori Lay, and men's golfer Ebenhaezer Van der Walt turned in the department's sixth perfect semester.

Combined with Nicholls 47 fall sports honorees from football, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's cross country and women's cross country, the Colonels recorded 105 honor roll performances during the 2010-11 academic season.
