Two Louisiana high school products punched their ticket to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships on Thursday. It's extra special for both South Carolina freshman Tristen Harris and LSU junior Alexis Guillory because it's their trip to the national championship.
Harris jumped 20-9.25 at the NCAA East Regional at Lexington, Kentucky and finished eighth in the competition.
It's the icing on the cake for Harris who had a personal record jump of 21-3.5 in a runner-up finish at the SEC Outdoor Championships.
Guillory found that her third time to the NCAA East Regional was a charm. Guillory's throw was 168-3 which was good enough for a seventh place finish.
Guillory's season best this year came in April at the Baylor Invitational where she picked up the first win of her collegiate career with a throw of 176-4.
This time last year, Harris, a West Feliciana graduate, was finishing her stellar high school career which saw her jump Louisiana's best mark ever in the long jump (21-2.25). Guillory was a three-time LHSAA Class 5A state champion in the javelin.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be held June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
