LAFAYETTE – Winding down its outdoor season, the Southeastern Louisiana track and field team heads to Lafayette for the Cole-Lancon Invitational Saturday. It is the final outdoor meet for the Lions and Lady Lions prior to the Southland Conference Championships.
Fresh off a strong performance at the LSU Alumni Gold, Southeastern will compete against host Louisiana-Lafayette and in-state schools LSU, Nicholls State and Southern-New Orleans in the single-day meet. Field events begin at 8:30 a.m. with the running events slated to start at 11 a.m.
Seven season highs were set by Southeastern at the LSU Alumni Gold.
Whitney Curry (1,500 meter run),
Bethany Burst (3,000 meter steeplechase) and
Judith Schultheis (400 meter hurdles) paced the Lady Lions during the running events. In the field event portion,
Shalicia Rochon set a high in the shot put.
On the men's side, Southeastern was paced by
Jerel Butler (200 meter dash),
Michael Rheams (long jump) and
Mason McGee (javelin).
