RUSTON -- Even with potential hurricane conditions looming in the distance the Mook Five Cross Country race went on as scheduled at Lincoln Parish Park, minus a couple of schools.
Louisiana Tech put on its second dominating performance in a row in the men's event, scoring a total of only 22 points with eight places in the top ten. Centenary came in second with 65, while UL-Monroe finished with 72. Grambling State only ran four runners and finished with no score.
"I was very pleased with the team's effort," track and field head coach Gary Stanley said. "Eight finishes in the top ten is a great effort."
Maya Aden took first place for UL-Monroe with Tim Marshall, Kinsey Dinnel and Zach Schulas all following for Tech.
"[Marshall and Dinnel] really took a shot at the win," Stanley said," but I was really happy with Schulas. He's made incredible progress as our third guy."
On the women's side, Grambling State won with a total of 28 points while UL-Monroe came in second with 33 and Centenary rounding out with 65.
The Lady Techsters did not run.
