HAMMOND – After an impressive outdoor debut on Wednesday, the Southeastern Louisiana track and field team heads west to Lake Charles to compete in the annual McNeese State Cowboy Relays on Saturday.

Southeastern will compete against host McNeese State, Lamar, Northwestern State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Southwest Christian in the meet. Field events will begin at 9 a.m. with running events slated to begin at 10 a.m.

In its 2011 outdoor debut in the Tulane Team Challenge at Tad Gormley Stadium, Southeastern scored team victories over host Tulane and South Alabama in both men's and women's competition with Shannon Grover and Judith Schultheis each claiming titles in three events.

Schultheis established a school-record in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1 minute, 0.69 seconds, breaking the previous mark set of 1:03.20 by Vickie Lorio in 1991.

Alicia Noel, Brittany Pfantz and Michelle Ogashi all claimed first-place finishes in their respective events for Southeastern on the women's side while Abram Taylor, Michael Rheams, Seth Cunningham, Henry Rop, Johnel Reams and Kovey Simmons claimed first-place finishes on the men's side.
