After completing Week No. 8 of the Louisiana high school track and field season, we have our finalists for the MileSplit LA Girls Performer Of The Week. Congratulations to all of the finalists. The winner will advance to the MileSplit LA Girls Outdoor Athlete Of The Year. This poll will end on Saturday at 9pm.
Scarlett Petticrew -- Won her third-straight District 3-5A Championship in the pole vault last week with a jump of 12-0. Tomorrow, she will attempt to accomplish the same three-peat at the Region 1-5A Championships in Natchitoches. If that mission is a success, Petticrew will head to Bernie Moore to attempt to three-peat at her final LHSAA State Outdoor Championships.
Stella Junius-- Won both the 1600 meters (5:01) and the 3200 meters (11:02) at the District 9-5A Championships last week. It was a repeat of what she accomplished as sophomore when she won both the 1600 (5:23) and 3200 (11:55).
Savannah Thompson-- Won the District 9-3A Championships in the long jump with a huge personal record of 18-3.5--over a foot better than her previous best this season. She also won the triple jump (36-3) and finished as the runner-up in the 100 meters (13.36).
Jayde Williams--The sophomore won her first district championship with a time of 45.87 in the 300 meter hurdles. She also finished second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.33. Williams ranks in the top five in both events for sophomore girls in Louisiana.
Leah James-- Won three individual events at her final District 1-1A Championships. She won the 400 meters (1:00), 800 meters (2:44) and pole vault (9-6).
Hayla Demery-- The freshman set a school record at the District 1-5A Championships in the 400 meters with a time of 58.04. She also finished second in the 200 meters (25.22) and third in the 100 meters (12.22). She Led her young team to it's first district championship since 2015.
