THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University women's cross country team will look to continue one of the most successful seasons in school history on Saturday when the Colonels head to their second consecutive NCAA South Central Regional Championship.
The Colonels return to the site of their first regional appearance as Baylor University hosts the men's and women's meets at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco, Texas, site of Nicholls school record 12th place team finish in 2009.
In their first regional appearance in 2009, Nicholls totaled 328 points for 12th place, just 28 away from a top-10 finish. Junior
Lauren Jones was the Colonels' low stick with a 37th place time of 22:35.4 over the 6K course.
Seniors
Kadi Whisnant,
Jessica McLeod and
Imma Kosgei join Jones in returning for their second career postseason meet. Along with their four-member senior class, the Colonels will bring along freshmen
Jacki White and
Emily Charlesworth for their first ever NCAA postseason event.
