Southeastern Makes Trip to Mississippi College Meet

Sophomore Bethany Burst earned a top 30 finish last Saturday in Lake Charles
HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana men's and women's cross country teams wrap up the regular season Saturday when they travel to the Choctaw Open in Clinton, Miss. It is Southeastern's final tune-up before the Southland Conference Championships.

After not making the trip to Lake Charles for last Saturday's McNeese State Stampede, senior Henry Rop is expected to be back for the Southeastern men's team. He'll be in search of his third straight individual victory after crossing the line first at the Azalea City Classic and LSU Invitational.

The Lions will also look for another solid performance from freshman Joseph LeGrange. He finished in 12th place at the McNeese State Stampede, running the four-mile race in 20:26.83. Southeastern's next best placement came from senior Reese Lee in 29th place at 21:16.44.

“This is our last tune-up and it's at a great course,” head coach Sean Brady said. “We're running well. Choctaw Trails is a place where we can put up some pretty good numbers if the weather cooperates. If we get some cooler weather, you'll see that reflected in the times.”

Naomi Jeruto finished in eighth place to pace the Lady Lions at the McNeese State Stampede last weekend, completing the 5K event in 18:37.32. Senior Whitney Curry and sophomore Bethany Burst also earned top 30 finishes.

The women's race will cover 5K and begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a four mile run for the men at 9:30 a.m.
