THIBODAUX - The Nicholls State University track and field and cross country merchandise is on sale now, as the Colonel track squad launches its annual fundraising campaign this week.

Members of the Nicholls track and field and cross country teams will be canvassing the area selling t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts with proceeds benefitting the Nicholls track and cross country teams, the only program in Nicholls athletic history to compete for consecutive national championships.

"We've been doing this fundraiser every year I've been here," head coach Scott Williamson said.  "In addition to being a way to make some extra money for our program, it's a good way for our athletes to get out into the community and talk to people about Nicholls track.  Since we travel for all our competitions, it makes it tough to generate interest in our program.  The more we can get out into the community, hopefully, the more people will realize that our track program has been able to do some pretty incredible things."

Nicholls track t-shirts will be available for $15.00 and Colonel track hooded sweatshirts will be available for $30.00.  Nicholls track athletes will begin selling the merchandise immediately throughout the community, but Colonel fans can also place their orders by calling head coach Scott Williamson at (985) 449-7101.
