HAMMOND -- While the Southland Conference Outdoor Championships loom on May 14-16, the Southeastern Louisiana track and field/cross country program is also preparing for next season and beyond. The Lions have added several top-tier student-athletes from the region, plus a distance runner that hails from Pennsylvania.

Below are profiles of six additions to the Southeastern teams for the 2010-11 season. More will be added to the list throughout the off-season.

Paul Arthur - Walker, La. - Walker High School - Distance
2010 season highlights: Ran a season best time of 10:25.62 in the two-mile at the Mobile Challenge of Champions Invitational, placing 18th ... Set a personal record of 2:05.70 in the 800 meter run at Episcopal's four-way meet, finishing third ... Ran his best time of the season in the 1600 meter run, 4:38.61, at the Sugar Bowl Track and Field Classic, placing fourth ... Won the 800 meter run (2:07.13) and 1600 meter run (4:45.90) at the St. Thomas Aquinas Judy Baehr Relays ... Took first place in the 1600 meter run (4:41.78) in the St. Thomas Aquinas Season Opener, while finishing second in the meet's 800 meter run (2:09.87).

Brittany Blackmon - Rusellville, Ark. - Russellville High School/Louisiana-Monroe - Distance
Transfer from ULM, currently enrolled at Southeastern ... In 2007-08, started season with two top ten finishes, including a ninth place finish at the Louisiana Tech Invitational with a time of 15:53 in the 4K race ... Ran a season-best 5K time of 20:15 at the ULM Invitatonal ... Placed seventh in 800 meter run at the Sun Belt Championships (2:24.67), and fifth in 1500 meters (4:49.61).

Shaquille Brown - Geismar, La. - Dutchtown High School - Middle Distance
2010 season highlights: Set a personal record of 50.05 in the 400 meter dash to win the St. Amant Baton Rouge Physical Therapy Invitational ... Took second in the Episcopal Jostens Invite's 800 meter run, setting a personal best time of 1:54.80 ... Victorious in the Episcopal four-way meet 800 meter run (1:57.90) ... Won the Dutchtown four-way meet's 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.10 ... Placed second in a pair of events at the LHSAA Indoor State Championships, running a season best 1:58.81 in the 800 meter run and 50.80 in the 400 meter dash.

Heather Fitzhenry - Marerro, La. - Academy of our Lady - Distance
Currently enrolled at Southeastern ... Did not compete in 2009-10 season ... In 2009, "Fitz" won the Region III-5A 1600 meter run with a time of 5:38.40 ... Set a personal record and finished second in the Region III-5A 3200 meter run (12:20.04) ... Placed first in Newman Invitational's 800 meter run at 2:29.10 ... Took the 800 meter (2:28.65) and 1600 meter (5:39.90) event titles at the E.D. White Catholic Relays ...

Joseph Legrange - Baton Rouge, La. - Redemptorist High School - Distance
2010 season highlights: Won the District 7-3A championship in a pair of events, the 1600 meter run (4:43.98) and 3200 meter run (9:58.00), both personal record times ... Placed second in the LHSAA Indoor State Championships, running a 10:09.93 in the 3200 meter event... Took first at the High School Last Chance Qualifier 3200 meter run at 10:04.19 ... Won the LHSAA State Cross Country Championship three-mile, covering the distance in 16:51.00.

Katie Suplee - Media, Pa. - Penncrest High School - Distance
2010 season highlights: Ran a personal record of 11:57.84 in the 3000 meter run at the DVGTCA #7 indoor meet, placing 23rd ... Set a new season best in the mile run (5:50.18) at the Kevin Dare High School Invitational, finishing in 18th place ... Finished 11th at the DELCO Championships 800 meter run at 2:37.61 ... Set a season best in the 800 meters, completing the race in 2:34.88 at DVGTCA #4, coming in 13th.
