It didn't take St. Joseph's Academy freshman Emoiree Rogers long to work her up to the top of the podium. She won the girls long jump in her very first meet--the LSU High School Classic. Rogers jumped 17-10.25 for the win.
She followed that up with a state-leading jump of 18-3 at the McNeese Indoor No. 1. At the same meet, Rogers jumped 36-5 in the triple jump, breaking the meet record in the event. Both jumps in that meet were personal records.
Nationally, Rogers is ranked No. 5 in the long jump for freshman girls. She is also ranked No. 9 in the nation in the triple jump.
Here are the other top freshmen in Louisiana after the first three weeks of the season.
