Ten seconds does not seem like a long time. But it's the difference between being among the best--and being the best. That is where Teurlings Catholic's Abigail Leger finds herself after the first two weeks of the La. HS indoor season. Leger ran a 5:07 in her opener at the LSU High School. She followed that up with another impressive performance at the McNeese St. Indoor No. 1. 
The fruits of her labor are paying off. She winning MVP honors and breaking records just two weeks into the season. This is all due to the fact that Leger has improved over 10 seconds from her season best of 5:18 a year ago.
But, as you can tell from the chart below, Leger isn't the only La. high school distance runner to improve. Nobody in Louisiana has improved as much as Buckeye's Abbi Poche and Louise McGeehee's Mary Claire Leckert
Poche has improved 22.60 from her season best from a year ago while Leckert has improved 19.24 seconds.
