The Southeastern Louisiana track and field teams make a visit to LSU's Carl Maddox Field House Friday for the Purple Tiger Invitational. This will be the first of three scheduled trips to Baton Rouge during the indoor campaign.

“This is purely a training meet,” head coach Sean Brady said. “There will be a very limited number of events. No 200, no 400, no 800, no 5000 and no distance medleys. It's a reduced schedule and the meet won't be scored. Still, it's competition and an opportunity to get better.”

Last weekend, the Southeastern men won the McNeese State Indoor Invite, while the women finished in second. Shannon Grover earned honorable mention honors in Southland Conference athlete of the week voting after setting a school record in the 55 meter dash in Lake Charles, putting up a time of 5.34 seconds. Adlus Wiltz had the best 600 meter run in Southeastern history, posting a mark of 1:21.84.

The Lions will face off against in-state foes including Grambling, Nicholls, Tulane, Louisiana-Monroe and home standing LSU. Southern Miss, Mississippi State and Stephen F. Austin are among other regional teams expected to compete. There will also be several LSU alums competing as individuals, including 2008 Olympian and three-time NCAA champion Lolo Jones.

Field events begin at noon, while action on the track is set to start at 5 p.m. Live statistics will be available online.
