LSU competes in the Lobos Invitational

LSU's men and women's XC team made it's 2004 season debut this past weekend at 5000 ft above sea level in the oxygen lacking University of New Mexico Lobos Invitational.

On the men's side, teammates Jimmy Wiggins and Pat Gavin (don't mind the third person) went out conservative as Jimmy is quoted as saying "I didn't want to die the last mile like I did last year." They passed runner's the entire way eventually finishing up in 6th and 7th place which was good enough to lead the Tiger's to a third place team showing - the best in school history. Post-race quotes from the men included: "I wish I could redshirt the year after that race" - Andrew Huston, and "I wish i could redshirt life" - Jace Gohres.

For the women, Katie Denton lead the LSU women tiger's finishing 11th with a time of 23:14 almost a full minute faster than last year's race. Jennifer Radecker and Kate Accardo also turned in impressive performances to help their team finish 5th overall however, altitude took it's toll as Jen and Kate confessed having to appologize to meet volunteers who went above and beyond their duties in the shoot, dragging their oxygen depleted bodies to safety.
