LHSAA Indoor Track and Field Preview

DIVISION II GIRLS:

St. Louis might just steal the show this weekend. This team does well to capitalize on the sprints, distance, and relay events and has solid contenders in each. St. Louis is known to never slack on their relays and it repays them well as they easily rack up points each year from this discipline. This combined with their duos of sprint and distance stars make for a formidable team worthy of the team title. Although they are a strong team, there is no need to slack off because the Episcopal women are right on their tail.

DIVISION II GIRLS TRACK MVP:

This is yet another incredibly difficult decision to make, but in the end, the most deserving of this prediction would be Houma Christian's Emma Bourg. She ran all of her qualifying marks at the Last Chance Qualifier, running an unheard-of quadruple of 400m, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. She's slotted as the favorite for the 1600m and 3200m, but there has to be so much more potential left to be harnessed in her 800m effort. With other impressive names on the table like St. Louis' Kenzie Touchet and Hannah Boullion, and Episcopal's Lucy Cramer, this is not an award that is just handed to someone.

DIVISION II GIRLS FIELD MVP:

What can be said other than who else would be more deserving of this award than A'shyria Burns of Holy Savior Menard? She is essentially a one-woman team, as she is slated as the favorite in the triple jump and could most likely podium in two other events. On a bad day, she will most likely garner 20 points from her events. When someone has that great of a baseline, it's difficult not to recognize them for it.
