VOTE: MileSplit LA's Girls Performer of the Week! (Jan. 2-8)

There was no question who the LSU High School Classic  MVP would be in the girls' division. It was clearly Scotlandville's Makeriah Harris. The MileSplit audience correctly picked her in our poll leading up to the Classic as the athlete who would turn in the most impressive performance. Harris received the well-deserved hardware for her efforts at the end of the meet.

Because she has been recognized for her efforts at the Classic last Saturday, we did not include her in this poll. Here are this week's finalists finalists for MileSplit LA's Girls Performer of the Week.

Houma Christian's EMMA BOURG - The Houma Christian distance runner picked up where she left off during the cross country season where she was the only female to break 18:00 in the cold and windy condition at the LHSAA State Cross Country Championships. Bourg won the 1600 in her first race of 2023 with a 5:17.

Zachary's JAYDAN JACKSON - The Zachary senior opened her senior season with a throw of 40-00.75, finishing second in the event. Jackson's throw is currently  ranked #1 in Louisiana and US #18.

St. Louis Catholic's HANNAH BOULLION - The sophomore dropped an impressive 58.37 at the LSU High School Classic. It wasn't her opener. She opened with a 59.71 at The Gallaria Games in Birmingham, AL in December. Boullion's time is currently the No. 4 time in the nation among Sophomores!

St. Joseph's Academy's EMMA HENDRY - Hendry showed Saturday that she is back after being injured during much of the cross country season. She won the 3200m at the LSU High School Classic for the second straight year. Hendry's time of 11:46.18 is not far from the form where she started the 2022 indoor season with an 11:37.97 at the same meet.

Scotlandville's SADE GRAY -Ran the fastest 60m time of all Louisiana high school sprinters at the LSU High School Classic. Her 7.71 was good for fourth place. It's her second fourth place finish of the season for Gray, who opened at the Fas Trak Coach O Meet in December with a 7.69. When compared to last season, Gray is ahead of schedule. She finished fifth at last year's LSU Classic with a 7.78. Look for the Lady Hornet to add to her collection of state championships, which began with the 200m (23.86) at the 2022 LHSAA Class 5A State Outdoor Meet

Teurlings Catholic's ADDISON RICHEY - The Teurlings Catholic junior finished third at the Classic with a vault of 11-7.75. It's LA#1.

Dutchtown's RACHEL FEREDAY - Battled to the finish line of the 800m...again. This time, she came up just short of the gold, finishing with a time of 2:20.53, but Fereday has to feel good about where she is at this point compared to last year, when she opened up her season with an 800m win at the The Classic. Her time last year was 2:26.63. Fereday also finished third in the 400m with a 1:01.06.
