Cross Country's Doody Named All-State

 BATON ROUGE -- LSU sophomore cross country runnerCullen Doody was named to the 2009 Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association’s All-Louisiana team, the LSWA announced Friday.

Doody, a native of Arabi, La., was one of eight runners named to this year’s team. Doody joins Moses Chimelo of ULM, Kalphus Kemboi of Southeastern La., Reese Lee of UL-Lafayette, David Rooney of McNeese State, Henry Ropp of Southeastern La., Ray Walston of Xavier and Joshua Sawe of McNeese State.

Doody was the Tigers’ top finisher in every meet this season, posting a season-high 16th-place finish at the LSU Invitational where he led the Tigers to a third-place team finish. His best 8K time came at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 18 as he clocked a 26:52.30. At the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark., the sophomore posted his best 10K time of the season with a 32:51.55.

Doody joins Jacob SimmonsJoseph Simuchimba and Drew Haro as the fourth Tiger to be named to the All-Louisiana team since 2005.
