LHSAA Boys State Meet Preview

Boys Class B

The men's class B state championship looks to be a tight race between Simboro and JS Clark Leadership Academy HS. These two teams primarily focus on sprints, jumps, and relays, so there should be some interesting match-ups coming into the state meet.

Simboro currently leads in the 100m with the top two ranked spots belonging to Chilaydrien Newton and Nick Maryland. Newton also competes in the 200m, long jump, and triple jump. This is a large potential point gain by Simsboro and really puts the pressure on JS Clark. Alongside Newton are Jamarian Cato and Michael Pesnell who compete in the 200m and 400m respectively. Cato also competes in the shot put alongside teammate Kelveon Outley. These two boys are ranked #3 and #4 in class B in that order. Simsboro also possesses a competitive 4x100m and 4x200m.

JS Clark is in many ways similar to Simsboro. Much like them, JS Clark is very competitive within the sprinting field. Bylen Tyler leads JS Clark in the 100m and 200m, which includes the fastest ranked time in the 200m. Joseph Levier joins Tyler in the 200m and compliments him by running the #1 ranked time in class B in the 400m. Meanwhile, D'Marcus Fugett runs the #2 best time in the 110m hurdles. Fugett also competes in the javelin and is ranked #3. Cobe Brooks joins the throws squad in the discus and ranks himself #4. Channing Arvie and Trevor Daughtery are a fearsome duo in the high jump and have the capability for a large impact on team score. Finally, JS Clark brings the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m to the table and shows off #1 ranked marks in the 4x200m and 4x400m.
