Stars Strips Pole Vault - Pasqualetti 14-8.25

Leah Pasqualetti, a senior from Orchard Park, NY heading to Kent State cleared 14 feet, 8.25 inches to set a national high school girls pole vault outdoor record to win the Stars and Stripes Big Red Barn meet on Friday, June 26, 2020 at the Vaulter Club Facility in Menifee, CA.

Pasqualetti was clean through her winning height and then it was announced that she was the first girl in high school history to attempt 15 feet.

Pasqualetti broke the record of 14-8 set by Chloe Cunliffe of West Seattle at the 2019 Arcadia Invitational.

Paige Sommers, a junior at Westlake (CA) HS, who had previously cleared a CA state record, 14-6 in late February before the 2020 outdoor season was lost to the coronavirus pandemic, was second clearing 14-1.75, her third 14-plus clearance in five meets this season. Sommers also cleared 14-0 at a Vaulter Magazine-sponsored Big Red Barn meet held in early June.

Rachel Homoly, a freshman from Kansas City, MO., was third with a best of 12-11.75.

The competition included 15 girls. This video captures many of those attempts, including all for Pasqualetti and Sommers.
